EC 1.4.1.28 Details
EC number
1.4.1.28
Accepted name
secondary-alkyl amine dehydrogenase [NAD(P)+]
Reaction
a secondary-alkyl amine + H2O + NAD(P)+ = a ketone + NH3 + NAD(P)H + H+
Other name(s)
AmDH (ambiguous), amine dehydrogenase (ambiguous)
Systematic name
secondary-alkyl amine:NAD(P)+ oxidoreductase (deaminating)
Comment
The enzyme has been shown to react preferentially with short-chain ketones such as cyclohexanone, primary amine groups attached to secondary alkyl groups, or D- and L-amino acids. It also reduces aldehydes to primary amines. Cosubstrate preference depends on the substrate.
