Results demonstrate regulation of PIMT expression by GSK-3 inhibitor lithium at both the transcriptional and the translational levels. Inhibition by siRNA of GSK-3 and beta-catenin modulates expression of the PIMT in accordance with GSK-3 pharmacological inhibition. Valproic acid up-regulates phospho-GSK-3b (Ser9), beta-catenin and PIMT levels similarly to lithium
