Although prostaglandin F2alpha (0.001 mM) does not affect the expression of HSD11B in cultured stromal cells, it significantly stimulates the protein expression of HSD11B. Cycloheximide abolishes the stimulatory effect of prostaglandin F2alpha on HSD11B protein expression in endometrial stromal cells, indicating that prostaglandin F2alpha increases HSD11B1 protein expression by stimulating a posttranscriptional process rather than a transcriptional mechanism.
